Welcome to Albany Telangana Community (ATC), a USA not-for-profit organization formed by residents of Albany, NY Telangana ( Non Resident Indians/NRI's). ATC provides the platform to preserve our Telangana cultural identity and contribute educational, social and developmental activities primarily in Albany, NY and in Telangana.
On 2 June 2014, Telangana became the 29th state of India, consisting of the ten north-western districts of Andhra Pradesh. The city of Hyderabad will serve as the joint capital of Telangana and the successor state of Andhra Pradesh for up to ten years. June 2'nd is declared as Telangana Formation Day ! ATC Objectives:

Telangana is bordered by the states of Maharashtra to the north and north-west, Karnataka to the west, Chhattisgarh to the north-east, and Andhra Pradesh to the south and east. Telangana has an area of 114,840 square kilometers (44,340 sq mi), and a population of 35,286,757 (2011 census). Telangana is formed with 10 districts Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Warangal, Warangal, Khammam, Hyderabad, Rangareddy,Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar .The current four top cities in Telangana State are Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad. |
Most of it was part of the princely state of Hyderabad (Medak and Warangal Divisions), which was ruled by the Nizams during the British Raj until 1947, and later until 1948, when it joined the Union of India. A small portion was part of Madras. In 1956, Hyderabad state was dissolved and Andhra State was merged with the Telangana region of the state of Hyderabad to form the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana is a region in south central India, constituting most of the Deccan plateau. Centuries of independent existence has given Telangana its distinctive and rich culture and identity. This region is rich in natural resources with vast stretches of forests, rich mineral resources and great rivers. Entire Telangana is sandwiched between two major rivers of India, Krishna and Godavari.
